Jewish family history talks in Leeds

From the Jewish Genealogy Society of Great Britain (www.jgsgb.org.uk):

Nigel Grizzard to give Leeds JGSGB double value

The Sinai Hall, Roman Avenue, Leeds LS8 2AN will be where, on 24th June 2012 from 2.30 to 4.30 pm, the Leeds Regional Group of the JGSGB (Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain) will welcome local genealogy expert Nigel Grizzard to benefit from his insight into two disparate topics plucked from his repertoire.

Nigel will give two short talks on:
Nigel Grizzard

“Jewish names in the 1911 census” – explaining how you can search the 1911 Census to look at the demographics of the Anglo-Jewish Community.

“The bombing of Spriggs Oak Maternity Home, Epping, Essex in October 1940” – a fascinating story, with its reminders of the Jewish casualties on the Home Front during WW2.

All-comers are welcomed, with members of JGSGB and JHS admitted free. Non-members pay a modest charge of £3.00. Light Refreshments are included.

Nigel Grizzard has lived in Leeds for many years, and is actively involved in many aspects of the Jewish community. Originally from London, he trained as a mathematician. He is interested in statistics, Jewish history and the human stories uncovered.

(With thanks to James Taylor of the JGSGB)
